This one-day course covers the basic principles involved in underground locating
including an overview of the types of problems delegates regularly encounter and how
to solve them.
The objective is to enlighten delegates on the increasingly complex functions involved in
this important activity. A knowledgeable and experienced operator can save time and
money, and above all avoid injury to individuals or damage to property.
The course can be undertaken at one of our dedicated training centres nationwide and
we can tailor content to individual needs. The emphasis is on practical training with
delegates completing numerous location exercises under the guidance of the trainer.
Course Agenda
- The basic principles of electronic pipe location
- The operation and use of inductive and conductive pipe locators
- Interpretation of plans and records
- An understanding of the operation and use of non-metallic pipe locators
- Basic maintenance of equipment
- Safe working conditions and requirements relating to handling of tools and equipment
Certification
Candidates will be given a number of exercises and assignments. This course covers
Unit 1 of the Street works Qualifications for Operatives and Supervisors. Following
successful completion of the assessment process, application to the appropriate
awarding body for accreditation will be made.
